The ritual

Warm through in the sauna as the heat does its work — loosening muscles, quieting the mind, drawing you fully into the present. Then step out and take the cold plunge. The shock passes in seconds. What replaces it is something harder to describe: a full-body aliveness, a clarity, a calm. Repeat as many times as you like.

The setting:

You're in a field in West Sussex. The South Downs rise around you. And above you — because Northblows sits within an International Dark Skies Reserve — on a clear evening, the sky is extraordinary.
